What are Yono games? A guide to names, publishers and lookalikes

Understand what a directory name can tell you, what it cannot, and how to separate branding from a publisher-controlled identity.

Searching for “Yono games” can lead to pages mixing rummy, slots, bingo and other app names. That phrase is useful for finding information, but it does not mean every result belongs to one company. Before comparing features, answer a more basic question: which exact product and publisher does this page describe?

A directory label is not an identity

Gaming directories group differently named apps under the Yono label. That grouping helps readers browse; it does not establish common ownership. We use “Yono games” as a research topic, rather than a certification, company register or statement of official affiliation.

There is also YONO SBI, the State Bank of India banking service. That banking name should not be confused with gaming-directory labels. YonoList is not affiliated with SBI, and an app using a similar word has no banking relationship by that word alone.

A product can be described by a short title, a logo, a domain and an Android package identifier. Those pieces should be checked together. A familiar title attached to an unfamiliar package deserves a fresh identity review. Equally, two websites repeating the same description may be drawing from one source; repetition should not be counted automatically as independent corroboration.

Build an identity record before a feature list

Write down the exact spelling of the app name, the stated legal publisher, the full domain and the date you inspected it. For Android software, look for a package identifier and signing information tied to the publisher. Record where each detail came from. An unexplained field deserves a source note rather than a plausible guess.

Compare the privacy policy and support information with the product page. A mismatch is a question to investigate, not immediate proof of wrongdoing. Useful explanations should be specific: a documented change of ownership, a named distribution partner or a consistent product history is more informative than a generic “trusted app” badge.

Watch for confusingly similar names

Small differences matter when you are identifying software. IND and INR, Gold and Golds, or a new suffix such as VIP may refer to different products. Capitalisation can be a simple editorial variation, but even then the underlying package needs its own check. Do not assume one product inherits another product’s policies, support or reputation because the names look alike.

The same principle applies to logos. Profiles use recorded app artwork where available, with a simple initials tile as a fallback. The artwork identifies the record; it does not establish a publisher relationship or identify the installer behind a similarly branded download button. Compare the product’s package and publisher as well as its icon.

Understand the product model

A game category and a payment model are different facts. A rummy-labelled product could be a social card game, while a spin-themed product could be a simulation. You still need current documentation about stakes, purchases and whether credits can be exchanged for money. Avoid treating the word “free” on a banner as a complete explanation.

Our current app profiles are source-review records. They identify observed names and the checks worth comparing; they are not hands-on reviews or recommendations. If the publisher is not identifiable from the recorded notes, stop at research rather than installing an unidentified file or handing over personal information. Read our India gaming update for the current regulatory context and How We Review for the evidence process.

Source and scope

Original listing addresses and inspection notes are retained in the publisher’s research record. The public profiles explain their evidence scope without redirecting you to another directory. For a practical example of a matching name with a different software identity, read Google Play listings and APK identity.
